Appalachian State Women’s Soccer Goes to Scoreless Draw With High Point
After a pre-match rain delay of nearly three hours, the App State Mountaineers battled the High Point Panthers to a scoreless draw, Sunday afternoon at The Valley.
It was the third consecutive match in which the Mountaineers (2-1-1) did not concede a goal, and the 21st shutout of goalkeeper Kerry Eagleston’s career, pushing her into a tie for second place with Caroline Clarke (2007-10) in program history.
Eagleston finished the match with five saves, and now has totaled 367 saves in her five-year career.
App State registered 11 shots in the match, including a game-high seven shots from senior Izzi Wood, equaling her career best. Three of those shots were on target. Olivia Simon also tallied three shots for the Mountaineers.
The Mountaineers back line of Shannon Studer, Skyler Walk, Kaitlyn Little, and Mumu Guisasola, all played the full 90 minutes in the shutout.
App State will be back in action next Sunday against FGCU at noon at The Valley. It’s senior day, so be sure to arrive early for the Mountaineers pregame senior ceremony. The match will be broadcast on ESPN+.
