Appalachian State Women’s Soccer Announces Fall Schedule

App State Soccer has announced its 2024 fall schedule, highlighted by nine home matches, including five Sun Belt Conference showdowns in Boone.

The Mountaineers are coming off a 2023 campaign in which they earned their best conference finish in program history. They tallied the program’s most wins and conference victories since 2018 while allowing the fewest goals in a season in program history.

“I’m very excited about the upcoming season,” head coach Aimee Haywood said. “This schedule is extremely competitive and the non-conference slate is going to prepare us well to compete in the Sun Belt, which has proven to be one of the top soccer conferences in the country.”

The Mountaineers will open the regular season on Thursday, Aug. 15, when they face off with in-state foe NC State in Raleigh.

App State’s home opener is set for Thursday, Aug. 22 at 6 p.m. against Wofford. The Black and Gold will host three other nonconference home matches, facing Charlotte on Sunday, Aug. 25 at 6 p.m., Longwood on Thursday, Aug. 29 at 6 p.m. for Rally at the Valley and Radford on Thursday, Sept. 5 at 6 p.m.

The contest against the 49ers will be senior day, and the Mountaineers will honor the 2024 senior class with a pregame ceremony.

App State rounds out its nonconference schedule with road trips to Auburn on Sept. 1, Davidson on Sept. 8, and FGCU on Sept. 12.

The Mountaineers open Sun Belt play with a pair of road clashes, facing off with Georgia Southern on Sept. 22 and Louisiana on Sept. 26.

App State welcomes its first Sun Belt opponent to The Valley on Sunday, Sept. 29 at 12 p.m., when the squad begins a three-match homestand with a contest against Arkansas State for Pups at the Pitch. The Mountaineers then open the month of October with their Pink Game, squaring off against Georgia State on Friday, Oct. 4 at 6 p.m. before tangling with Coastal Carolina on Thursday, Oct. 10 at 6 p.m. on First Responder’s Day.

The Mountaineers will then embark on a three-match road swing. They will face off with Marshall on Oct 13, JMU on Oct. 18 and Troy on Oct. 24.

The team will return home for its final two regular season matchups. On Sunday, Oct. 27, App State will host its annual Alumni Day at The Valley ahead of a 12 p.m. first touch with Texas State. Alumni Day registration will be released at a later date.

The Mountaineers will conclude the regular season with a showdown against two-time reigning conference champion Old Dominion on Thursday, Oct. 31 at 7 p.m.

The Sun Belt Conference tournament will be played Nov. 4 through Nov. 10 in Foley, Ala.

The Mountaineers will also play a pair of exhibition matches, one at home against ETSU on Monday, Aug. 5 at 6 p.m. and one on the road against Winthrop on Aug. 9.
