Appalachian State Women’s Soccer Announces 2020 Schedule

App State women’s soccer head coach Sarah Strickland announced the Mountaineers’ 13-game schedule for the 2020 season.

The schedule features two matches against ACC foe, Pitt, seven home matches and the always tough Sun Belt schedule.

“I appreciate the patience and belief shown by App Nation to allow us to navigate our 2020 schedule,” Strickland said. “With Conference USA, Big South and the SoCon moving to the spring, SEC becoming conference only and the ACC changing their testing standards, each week made this a challenging task. We are excited to finally release our 2020 schedule. We are proud of our young women that have worked hard remotely throughout the summer and have embraced a lot of new ideas and expectations.”

App State will start the season with back-to-back home matches against Pitt, facing the Panthers on Sept. 10 before the second match three days later. It’s the first time the Apps will host a Power Five school since a 2016 match against Texas Tech.

The Sun Belt schedule starts with a home contest against Georgia State on Sept. 17, capping off a three-match homestand. App will travel to Statesboro for a Sept. 20 contest against archrival, Georgia Southern.

Troy will make its visit to the High Country on Sept. 25 followed by a showdown against the reigning Sun Belt champions South Alabama on Sept. 27.

The final nonconference matchup will take place at a neutral-site location on Oct. 1 in Greer, S.C. against The Citadel at the MESA Soccer Complex.

Consecutive road league matches will ensue against Coastal Carolina on Oct. 4 and Georgia State on Oct. 8.

App State will face Georgia Southern at home on Oct. 11 followed by a trip to Alabama to go up against Troy (Oct. 16) and South Alabama (Oct. 18).

A week later, the Black and Gold will wrap up the regular season against Coastal Carolina on Oct. 25 at home.

The Sun Belt Championships will take place from Nov. 2-9 in Foley, Ala.

Due to COVID-19, the fall sports schedule remains fluid. All dates and times are subject to change.

A streaming schedule for App State women’s soccer home matches will be announced soon.
