Appalachian State Women’s Golf Finishes 11th at UNCG Collegiate

Led by a final-round 73 from Layla Meric, who finished a team-best 13 over through 54 holes, App State Women’s Golf placed 11th among 19 teams at the UNCG Collegiate held at the Grandover West Course.

The Mountaineers were tied for sixth place in the 19-team field after the first of three rounds.

Jacquelyn Taylor and Hannah Wang both finished at 15 over. Makena Dubois and Ona Lukes, both freshmen, had 18-over totals.

Dubois led App State in the opening round with a 1-over 73 that included four birdies and was at a team-best 7 over through 36 holes, followed by Taylor and Wang and 8 over.

Wang’s team-leading 75 in the second round included a pair of eagles in her first 12 holes: a hole-in-one on the par-3 15th hole and a 96-yard holeout on the par-5 second hole.
