Appalachian State Women’s Golf Adds to Roster

App State Women’s Golf head coach Heather Brown has announced the addition of five newcomers for the 2022-23 season.

The Mountaineers are welcoming three college newcomers in Ekaterina Prokhorova (Moscow, Russian Federation), Andrea Diaz (Xalapa, Veracruz, Mexico) and Sara Adams (Whispering Pines, N.C.) and two college transfers in Shani Brynard (Charleston Southern University, via Stellensboch, South Africa) and Braelyn Pippin (Tusculum University, via Waxhaw, N.C.).

The five new Mountaineers will join a roster that includes returners Megan Mitchell, Hannah Wang, Layla Meric and Jacquelyn Taylor.

BIO: Appeared in four tournaments last season, including the Big South Championships, as a freshman at Charleston Southern … Posted a season-best 75 in the second round of the Mercer Invitational and had a 76 in the final round of the RiverTown Invitational … Prior to college, awarded the International Sports Achievement Trophy … Had scoring average of 76.2 with a national B squad ranking of 12th … Was the 2019 South African Women’s Amateur Champion.

BIO: Standout from Xalapa, the capital city in the Mexican state of Veracruz (between Mexico City and the Gulf of Mexico) … First-place finisher at the 2021 Disney Summer Junior Open with a 3-over total thanks to scores of 75 and 72 … Attended Prepa Anáhuac in Xalapa … Coached by Adrián Senderos … Xalapa club team claimed multiple titles as the region’s best team.

BIO: In 2021-22, as a redshirt freshman at Tusculum University in Tennessee, appeared in eight tournaments … Tied for 10th place at the Agnes McAmis Memorial with two rounds of 78 and tied for 12th place at the CBU Buccaneer Classic … Season-best round of 77 at the King Invitational and finished season with a scoring average of 80.7 … Recently notched a top-10 finish in a strong field at the First Coast Women’s Amateur, with a 1-over 73 in the final round.

BIO: Helped her team, Union Pines, take second place at the NCHSAA state 3-A golf championships thanks to a 10th-place individual finish … Tied for 10th at the Peggy Kirk Bell Junior tournament in December 2021 … Has excelled in basketball, track and field and Motorcross racing as a multi-sport athlete away from golf.
