App State announced its 2023-24 women’s basketball schedule.

The Mountaineers’ season opener in the Holmes Convocation Center is slated for Nov. 6 against UNC Greensboro and will be followed by the first game of the MAC-SBC Challenge against Ohio on Nov. 11. Head coach Angel Elderkin’s team will then head to Norfolk, Va., to take on Norfolk State on Nov. 16.

The Mountaineers have the opportunity to compete in the Thanksgiving Basketball Clasico in San Juan, Puerto Rico, where they will clash with Furman on Nov. 23 and Binghamton on Nov. 24.

Other nonconference opponents include Davidson, College of Charleston, Richmond, Gardner-Webb, Marquette and Mercer.

The Mountaineers’ Sun Belt Conference opener is set for Dec. 30 against Louisiana in Lafayette. In the New Year, App State will then host Texas State and South Alabama on Jan. 4 and Jan. 6, respectively. The Black and Gold will then venture down to Georgia to take on Georgia Southern (Jan. 11) and Georgia State (Jan. 13) before returning to host Coastal Carolina (Jan. 18) and Georgia Southern (Jan. 20).

In the latter half of January, the Mountaineers will head out for a four-game road trip, making stops at Old Dominion (Jan. 25), reigning SBC Champions James Madison (Jan. 27), Marshall (Jan. 31) and Coastal Carolina (Feb. 2).

On Feb. 7, App State will host ULM before heading out for the second game of the MAC-SBC Challenge on Feb. 10. Matchups for the second MAC-SBC Challenge game will be announced in January and will be based on real-time NET rankings.

The Mountaineers will enter a four-game home-stretch upon their return from the MAC-SBC Challenge game, starting with Marshall on Feb. 15. App State will then host Georgia State on Feb. 17, Old Dominion on Feb. 22, and James Madison on Feb. 24.

The Black and Gold’s final two regular season conference games will be at Troy on Feb. 28 and at Arkansas State on March 1.

The Sun Belt Tournament is slated for March 5-11 at the Pensacola Bay Center in Pensacola, Fla. All 14 teams will qualify for the tournament with the champions punching their tickets to the NCAA Tournament.

Game times for the entire 2023-24 campaign will be announced at a later date. Season ticket renewals and unallocated new season tickets will be available for purchase Thursday, Aug. 10. The renewal deadline will be Aug. 31. Single-game tickets will go on sale in September.
