Appalachian State Men’s Golf Finish Third at Wofford Invitational

App State Men’s Golf placed third in a 17-team field as the Wofford Invitational wrapped up Tuesday at the Country Club of Spartanburg.

With an 11-under total (280-282-279—841) over 54 holes, the Mountaineers finished behind only 49th-ranked Chattanooga (43 under) and USF (13 under). App State beat fourth-place Wofford by three strokes.

Addison Beam led App State by tying for eighth individually with a 5-under total (70-70-68—208), followed by Herman Huus in a tie for 14th at 2 under (73-69-69—211).

Sverrir Haraldsson, who matched Beam with a 68 on Tuesday, and Lukas Jönsson tied for 23rd at 1 over for the event.

DAY 1 RECAP

After 36 holes, App State (6 under) was in third place behind Chattanooga (24 under) and Western (11 under).

Jönsson and Beam were tied for 11th overall at 2 under. The top scores in Round 2 came from Huus (69), Beam (70), Jönsson (71) and Josh Buxbaum (72).

Haraldsson stood in a tie for fifth place after an opening-round 68 that involved seven birdies, including four straight on a 31 front side. Jönsson was tied for eighth thanks to a 69 that included an eagle and birdie on a front-side 32, and Beam shot 70 to begin the event.
