App State Men’s Golf, led by a tie for ninth place from Herman Huus, placed eighth in an 18-team field at the Wexford Intercollegiate.

App State tied for the fifth-best final round Tuesday with a 299 and finished with a 34-over total through 54 holes (302-297-299—898).

Huus’ 3-over total of 71-75-73—219 was highlighted by a 1-under round to open the event, and he was still at 1 under through 32 holes. Addison Beam tied for 22nd place at 7 over (74-73-76—223) to give the Mountaineers a pair of top-25 finishers.

Aidan Browning’s 74 and Rob Bergevin’s 76 also contributed to the final-round 299. Sverrir Haraldsson was tied for 14th place heading into the final round thanks to rounds of 74 and 72 on Monday, and he ended up in a tie for 43rd place.

Huus was tied for third place after the opening round, and App State was one of just four teams with at least three players in the top 18 of the 90-player field through 36 holes.

Georgia State won the team title by four strokes with a 9-over total, and three players shared medalist honors with even-par totals of 216.
