Appalachian State Adds Tafisi to Women’s Basketball Roster

App State women’s basketball coach Alaura Sharp announced the signing of transfer Eleyana Tafisi to the 2024-25 roster.

A native of West Jordan, Utah, Tafisi joins the Mountaineers after four seasons at Utah Valley. A four-time Academic All-WAC selection, Tafisi brings significant college experience to App State, having played in 98 games and started 52 times across four seasons with the Wolverines.

This past season, Tafisi averaged 6.7 points-per-game and brought in 3.6 rebounds-per-contest for Utah Valley, while dishing out a team-high 3.6 assists-per-contest, which ranked sixth in the WAC. She also ranked fifth in the league in assist-to-turnover ratio, at 1.44. Tafisi ranked among league leaders in assists and steals in the 2022-23 season.

At Copper Hills High School, Tafisi was named a McDonald’s All-American Nominee her senior year, averaging 13.2 points-per-game and 4.6 assists-per-contest, earning First Team All-State honors as both a junior and senior, and helping her team to a state runner-up finish in 2019.

Eleyana brings in a wealth of experience at the point guard position while excelling in attacking the rim to play-make for others. She plays with a lot of intensity on the defensive end and will help us push the pace of our offense. She has leadership skills that help us on and off the court as a program.”
