App State Women’s Tennis Drops Road Match to South Alabama

App State Tennis fell to South Alabama 4-1 on Sunday. The Mountaineers have two more matches remaining in the regular season before the Sun Belt Tournament at the end of April.

The Jaguars (13-4, 6-2 SBC) took the doubles point from App State (12-7, 6-3 SBC) by collecting wins from their No. 1 and No. 2 pairings.

In singles action, graduate student Maggie Pate secured App State’s only point with her 6-2, 7-5 victory over South Alabama’s Manal Ennaciri on Court 4. It marked her second win this season playing as App State’s No. 4 and her 13th win overall.

South Alabama was able to hold off the Mountaineers, as it was able to garner three wins in singles play to claim the win.

The Mountaineers will be back in action on Saturday as they travel to Huntington, W. Va., to face Marshall. The match will begin at 10 a.m. and conclude App State’s road schedule this season. App State will return to the High Country to host Sun Belt leader Old Dominion for Senior Day on April 20.
