Thursday’s soccer match between App State and Western Carolina was canceled due to persistent inclement weather at the Catamount Athletic Complex and surrounding areas.

Approximately 35 minutes prior to the scheduled start time of 7 p.m., lightning was detected in the area, and despite the teams waiting until 9 p.m., match officials were unable to find a safe window to begin play. The match will not be rescheduled.

The Mountaineers will return to action Sunday, when they travel to Radford for a 2 p.m. matchup against the Highlanders. The match will be broadcast on ESPN+.
