App State Women’s Soccer Falls to Tennessee

App State women’s soccer fell to Tennessee, 7-0, on Saturday afternoon at Ted Mackorell Soccer Complex.

The Mountaineers fall to 5-10-1 on the season while Tennessee improves to 6-4-1.

Tennessee’s offense jumped out of the gate when Jaida Thomas scored twice in the first 19 minutes of the contest. The Vols’ offense scored two more times to take a 4-0 lead into the break.

The Vols tacked on three more scores in the second half, while five players total scored at least once for the visitors. Three of App State’s four shots were on target with two coming in the second half.

Olivia Cohen (Lakeside, Ga./Lakeside) fired off a shot in the 84th minute with Lindsey Romig stopping the attempt. Hayley Boyles’ (Wake Forest, N.C./Heritage) shot on goal came four minutes later in an effort to put the Apps on the board, but Romig came up with the save.

Boyles led the way with two shots on frame in the match. Kerry Eagleston (Winston-Salem, N.C./West Forsyth) played all 90 minutes for the Apps between the posts.

App State returns to action on Thursday at 7:30 p.m. against Davidson at Ted Mackorell Soccer Complex.
