App State women’s basketball is excited to announce the signing of Breanna Locke for the 2021-22 season.
Locke is the fifth signee for the Mountaineers, joining Adair Garrison, Zada Porter, Mariah Frazier, and Emily Carver.
“We are excited about the addition of Breanna Locke to our program,” head coach Angel Elderkin said. “Bre is a great fit for our style of play with her versatility to stretch the floor and attack the rim. “Her competitive spirit will immediately impact our culture.”
A 6-foot guard from Flowery Branch, Ga., Locke is eligible immediately as a graduate transfer after spending three seasons at Division II school, Emmanuel College.
Locke put forth a stellar career for the Lions, averaging over 16.5 points, 8.1 rebounds, 2.2 assists, shot 47 percent from the field, 43 percent from beyond the arc, and 85.6 percent from the line.
In her three seasons with the Lions, she helped Emmanuel boast a 57-21 mark and 43-13 record in the Conference Carolinas, capture a league tournament championship in 2019-20, and a co-regular season title in the same season.
Last season, she turned in her best season as she poured in 22.3 points, 9.3 rebounds, 4.2 assists and 1.6 steals per game. Her impressive numbers led to a 2020-21 First-Team All-Conference selection and was named to the Division II Conference Commissioners Association (D2CCA) All-America Women’s Basketball Third Team. Her awards didn’t stop there, as she garnered two conference player of the week awards and was recognized as the United States Basketball Writers Association (USBWA) National Player of the Week.
Locke’s number improved every season for the Lions, while she was second in the league in PER (41.9), first in win shares (7.2), first in offensive win shares (5.4), and first in defensive win shares (1.8).
