App State to Send Two to Track and Field Indoor Championships

App State juniors Niejel Wilkins and Cole Krehnbrink will travel to Albuquerque, NM for the 2023 USATF Indoor Championships on Feb. 16-18. Wilkins will compete in the men’s triple jump and Krehnbrink will compete in the men’s 400 meters. The men’s triple jump is scheduled for 1:40 p.m. MT (3:40 p.m. ET) on Friday with the first round of the men’s 400 meters to follow at 3:37 p.m. MT (5:37 p.m. ET). The men’s 400-meter finals are scheduled for 2:49 p.m. MT (4:49 p.m. ET) on Saturday.

Wilkins has an indoor triple jump personal best of 15.31m (50′ 2.75″), which he recorded at the American Indoor Championships in 2020 while competing with East Carolina. While at App State, Wilkins has landed first in the indoor triple jump with marks of 15.12m (49′ 7.25) at the John Weaver Invitational (Dec. 2-3) and 15.11m (49′ 7″) at the App State Split Meet (Jan. 20).

Krehnbrink has an indoor men’s 400 meters personal best of 49.11, which he set at the Camel City Invitational on Feb. 3-4. In that race, he placed first overall. Krehnbrink also competed in the men’s 400 meters at the 2022 USATF Indoor Championships, which were held in Spokane, Wash. on Feb. 26-27. At last year’s meet he clocked a time of 49.57, placing 18th overall.
