App State Softball Adds Ogle to Coaching Staff

App State Softball head coach Whitney Jones announced the addition of Courtney Ogle as the Director of Softball Operations to round out her coaching staff.

Ogle comes to Boone after spending the past year at Alvin Community College where she served as an assistant coach for the Dolphins. She helped lead the Dolphins to 13 Conference wins in 2024 and a win in the Region XIV Tournament over Bossier Parrish CC.

“Courtney is going to be a huge asset to our program, and we are excited to have her join the Mountaineer family,” Jones said. “She exudes the core values of our university, athletic department and softball program. Her experiences as a student-athlete, graduate assistant and assistant coach at the collegiate level will be extremely valuable for our day-to-day operations.

Her time spent with Team USA and Athletes Unlimited this summer will give her valuable experiences and help grow and develop her coaching mindset. We are excited to follow along prior to her arrival in Boone.”

Before her time at Alvin, Ogle spent a year at Washington under head coach Heather Tarr, serving as a graduate assistant. She oversaw daily coaching duties as well as game day operations for the Huskies.

While at Washington, Ogle helped lead the Huskies to 44 wins, 14 of which were over ranked opponents, and a Women’s College World Series appearance. She becomes the third member of the Mountaineer coaching staff who has coached in the WCWS, joining Matt Alberghini and Jones.

“I am blessed and grateful beyond measure to have the opportunity to be a part of such an amazing staff in an amazing place,” Ogle said. “The support, drive and passion from the people at App State are top tier and there is no doubt in my mind that this is the perfect place to be.

Coach Whit is exactly the type of person I want to work for and I can’t wait to witness all of the incredible things that are going to be happening in Boone.”

A 2022 graduate of the University of Texas-Arlington, Ogle spent three years with the Mavericks’ softball program, playing 77 games at catcher and designated hitter. While there, Ogle was coached by Alberghini, who served as an assistant coach at UTA before coming to App State.

In 2022, Ogle was named an NFCA All-American Scholar Athlete and was UTA softball’s representative and campus leader for the Student Athletic Advisory Committee.

Ogle began her playing career at Blinn College in Brenham, Texas, where she appeared in 71 games over two years. She helped the team to a program-best 23-1 conference record her sophomore year and participated in two NJCAA Regionals in her career as a Buccaneer. Her sophomore year at Blinn saw her bash a team-high seven homers and 19 extra-base hits.

A native of Austin, Texas, Ogle graduated from UTA with a degree in Clinical Health and earned her master’s degree in Intercollegiate Athletic Leadership from Washington in 2023. She is the daughter of Don and Karen Ogle.
