App State Football Garners Two on Outland Trophy Watch List

App State offensive linemen Isaiah Helms and Bucky Williams have been named to the watch list for the Outland Trophy.

It’s the fifth straight year that at least one offensive lineman from App State has made the watch list for the Outland Trophy, which is presented to the nation’s most outstanding interior lineman on offense or defense

Helms, who began his App State career as an offensive guard before moving to center midway through the 2022 season, started in all 25 of his App State game appearances during his first two years with the Mountaineers. Helms is a graduate of West Caldwell.

Williams, like Helms, received All-Sun Belt recognition last season. He started the final six games at right guard and had a 89.9 run-blocking grade from PFF to rank No. 1 among Sun Belt offensive linemen.

Defending national champion Georgia leads five schools that have three players represented on the watch list. App State, Notre Dame, Clemson, Kansas State, Arizona, Oregon State, USC, James Madison, Liberty, SMU, Tulane and UTSA have two representatives apiece.
