App State Field Hockey Announces Seven Signings

Head coach Meghan Dawson and the App State field hockey staff announced the addition of seven future Mountaineer student-athletes on Tuesday.

“I am extremely proud to add these amazing student-athletes to our App State field hockey squad. Each individual excels on the field and especially in the classroom,” Dawson said. “Playing wise, they have a range of different strengths which will add immensely to our current group. I am excited to get these young women on campus and to have them represent our university.”

Ruby Clark
Louisville, Ky. / Sacred Heart Academy

A four-year letter winner at Sacred Heart Academy, Clark will join the Mountaineers for the 2021-22 school year. The defender was a member of the All-Star team as a junior and named to the All-Tournament team as a senior, as well as second team All-State. As the captain during the 2020 season, Clark helped her team to a State Championship. She was also a member of the 2018 State Championship team. Clark plays club for Stealth Field Hockey.

Kendall Cooke
Fredricksburg, Va. / Mountain View High School

Joining the Mountaineers for the 2021-22 school year, Cooke is a three-year letter winner for Mountain View High School (senior season postponed due to COVID-19). The defender earned All-District as a sophomore, junior and senior, as well as All-Region as a freshman, sophomore and junior. She helped her team to a District Championship all three years and a Regional Championship as a freshman and junior. Following a 24-0 record her freshman year, Cooke was a key member of the State Championship team. She also helped her team to State Runner-Up as a junior and advanced to the semifinals as a sophomore. Cooke plays club for Metro HC.

Emily Fleming
Johnstown, N.Y. / Johnstown High School

Fleming has signed with the Mountaineers and will head to Boone for the 2021-22 school year after a standout high school career. The midfielder was a five-year letter winner for Johnstown High School where she earned first team All-State and All-Star as a freshman, sophomore and junior. She also earned Honorable Mention as an 8th grader. She was awarded the Coaches Award, MVP and Most Dedicated during her high school career. As a member of ADK Field Hockey, Fleming earned MVP and was also the leading scorer.

Claire Grenius
Manlius, N.Y. / Fayetteville-Manlius High School

Signing with App State this fall, the goalkeeper will join the Mountaineers for the 2021-22 school year. Grenius earned second team All-League as a junior when she posted a .800 goals-against average. She also posted a .909 save percentage as a senior as well as a .636 goals-against average. As a member of the Syracuse Field Hockey Club, Grenius was selected as an alternate to the National Futures Championship in 2017. She was selected as a member of the National Futures Championship team in 2018 and 2019.

Kinley Koch
Portsmouth, Va. / Catholic High School

A four-year letter winner at Catholic High School, Koch will join the Mountaineers for the 2021-22 season. The forward was named All-Conference as a junior after posting 15 goals and 20 assists. She helped her team to the State Tournament all three years of her career so far (senior season delayed due to COVID-19) and was named team captain as a junior and senior. As a sophomore, Koch scored 12 goals and posted eight assists, as well as four goals and eight assists as a freshman. Off the field, she was named to the 2019 National Field Hockey Coaches Association National Academic Squad. As a member of Saints Hockey Rocks, Koch was a 2018 U16 Premier Outdoor League Champion, a participant in the 2019 AAU Olympics and was a member of the 2017 and 2019 National Futures Championship, winning a gold medal in 2017.

Jillian Orcutt
Atco, N.J. / Camden Catholic High School

Signing with App State this fall, Orcutt will join the Mountaineers for the 2021-22 school year. A letter winner at Camden Catholic High School, the defender was named All-Conference second team as a sophomore, as well as a second team recognition as a freshman. Orcutt plays club field hockey for the Spirit of USA, where she participated in the 2019 AAU Junior Olympics and the U16 National Futures Championship. She is coached by Carissa and Michelle Vittese.

Meagan Quick
Gambrills, Md. / South River High School

Joining the Mountaineers for the 2021-22 school year, Quick is a four-year letter winner at South River High School. The midfielder was named All-State as a junior, as well as first team All-County and honorable mention All-Metro. She was also named team captain. Quick helped her team to a state championship in 2017 and 2018, as well as a county championship in 2018. Off the field, she earned the NFHCA Scholar of Distinction award. As a member of Freedom Hky, Quick was a Regional Club Champion in 2018 and 2019, as well as a Mid-Atlantic Regional Cup Champion in 2020.
