App State Baseball Home Opener Cancelled

Friday’s Appalachian State baseball opening home game of a weekend series against Gardner-Webb has been canceled due to impending inclement weather.

Friday’s game may be rescheduled for a later date this season.

Saturday and Sunday’s contests – which will be the first at Jim and Bettie Smith Stadium this season – are on as scheduled, each with a 1 p.m. first pitch.

App State is 7-1 after reeling off seven straight wins for its best season-starting streak since 2010. Gardner-Webb will bring a 5-4 record into Boone. The Runnin’ Bulldogs are on a four-game win streak that includes victories over Big Ten teams Northwestern and Michigan State.
