Annual Donald Hicks Basketball Day Camp to be Held in Newton

The Donald Hicks Basketball Day Camp (DHBDC) will take place beginning on Monday, July 8 through Friday, July 12 from 8 a.m.-3 p.m. at Grace Reformed United Church of Christ.

The Donald Hicks Basketball Day Camp (DHBDC) is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization (Tax ID 37-1959260), recognized by the IRS and the State of North Carolina. Their mission is to nurture the physical, academic, social, and personal development of all children by integrating the excitement of sports with educational and life skills training.

Attendees will work on the following skills:
-Athletic Skills: Basketball drills and games to improve physical fitness and sportsmanship.
-Academic Skills: Engaging math and reading classes with a sports-centric approach.
-Life Skills: Lessons in self-esteem, self-discipline, conflict resolution, teamwork, and character development.
-Social Skills: Opportunities to interact with community leaders, government authorities, business owners, law enforcement personnel, and sports heroes.

Donald Hicks, Camp Director said, “At our Summer Camp, we believe that summer is a time for adventure, growth, and endless possibilities.
