The quarterfinals of the American Legion Area IV baseball playoffs for North Carolina are set and will begin on Sunday. All quarterfinal matchups are a best of five series. Winners advance to the semifinals beginning July 11 and the finals will be held July 17-22. All playoff matchups are a best of five series.

Quarterfinal matchups with Hickory Metro teams include Cherryville vs. Hickory and Caldwell County against Gaston Braves. Burke County Post 21 finished in ninth place in the Area IV regular season standings and did not qualify for the playoffs.

Cherryville vs. Hickory
Post 100 is the top seed with a record of 14-1 in Area IV games. Hickory finished eighth with a record of 4-12. The series will follow this schedule:

Monday at Hickory
Tuesday at Cherryville
Wednesday at Hickory, if necessary
Thursday at Cherryville, if necessary

Caldwell County vs. Gaston Braves
This is a four-five matchup as Post 29 finished 9-6 overall and in Area IV games while the Braves were a half game behind at 9-7 in Area IV, and 9-9 overall. The series will be:
Sunday at Caldwell County
Monday at Gaston Braves (East Gaston HS)
Tuesday at Caldwell County
Wednesday at Gaston Braves (East Gaston HS), if necessary
Thursday at Caldwell County, if necessary
