All Four Hickory Metro Counties Report New COVID-19 Cases, Death Reported In Catawba

Catawba County Public Health reported the county’s 30th COVID-19-related death Thursday (August 6). 59 new cases of the coronavirus were confirmed Thursday, increasing the total to 2,081. 59 is the second highest one-day total of new coronavirus infections in Catawba County since the start of the pandemic. Hospitalizations increased to 21 in Catawba County, up from 16 Wednesday (August 5).

11 new cases of COVID-19 were reported Thursday by the Alexander County Health Department, increasing the total to 283, with two deaths. There were 27 people quarantined and three people were in the hospital. At least 251 Alexander County coronavirus patients had recovered. Burke County Public Health reported 24 additional COVID-19 infections Thursday, increasing the total to 1722, with 28 deaths. There were 10 patients hospitalized and at least 1,268 had recovered.

18 new coronavirus cases were reported in Caldwell County Thursday, upping the total to 1,193, with 15 deaths. There were 20 Caldwell County residents hospitalized with COVID-19 and at least 592 patients had recovered.
