Alexander County Residents Charged With Drug Offenses, Child Abuse, Following Traffic Stop

30-year-old Larry Allen Moretz of Taylorsville and 28-year-old Harlee Kae Korte of Hiddenite were arrested last Thursday evening (April 28) by Alexander County Sheriff’s Officers. Both suspects are charged with felony counts of possession of schedule I controlled substance and possession of schedule II controlled substance along with misdemeanor counts of possession of marijuana, possession of drug paraphernalia and misdemeanor child abuse. Moretz was also served a failure to appear warrant after allegedly missing a court date.

The suspects were arrested following a traffic stop Thursday night. The vehicle was stopped on Highway 127 in Bethlehem. The abuse charges were filed because when the vehicle was stopped police discovered that a child was a passenger.

Moretz was placed in the Alexander County Detention Center with a secured bond of $37,500. Korte was placed in the same facility under $30,000 secured bond. Moretz was not listed as an inmate in Alexander County, Korte remained in jail as of earlier today (May 2). Both suspects were scheduled to appear in District Court today in Taylorsville.
