Alexander County Plans America 250 Veterans And Settlers Program

TAYLORSVILLE, N.C. (WHKY) — Alexander County will mark America’s 250th anniversary with a history program honoring local veterans and early settlers.

The event is scheduled for Saturday, November 14 at 3 p.m. at Bethlehem Baptist Church.

Retired school administrator and longtime newspaper columnist Dr. Warren Hollar will present a lecture titled “Impact of Veterans and Early Settlers on Alexander County.” Organizers say the program will trace the influence of early settlers and share stories recognizing local veterans and their families.

Patriotic music will be performed by Kim Pennell, The Barnes Family and the Third Creek Baptist Church Praise Team.

Alexander Central High School JROTC members, local officials, clergy and commanders from the county’s three veterans posts are also scheduled to participate.

Refreshments will be served following the program. The event is open to the public.
