A Hiddenite residence was destroyed by fire over the weekend. According to Alexander County Fire Marshall Mark Earle, the Hiddenite, Stony Point, Vashti, and Taylorsville Fire Departments were dispatched to a home on Dishmon Family Drive shortly before 5 p.m. on Saturday (May 22).
The double-wide mobile home was engulfed in flames when the first units arrived at the scene. Two residents reportedly escaped the flames through a window. Both were taken to an area hospital for treatment. Their injuries were not believed to be life-threatening.
Fire Marshall Earle says the blaze started as the result of improperly discarded smoking material. The home is considered a total loss.[Story courtesy of Rick Gilbert, WACB]
