47-year-old Jeremy Lynn Benfield-Cooper of Hiddenite was arrested Wednesday (July 26) by Alexander County Sheriff’s Officers. He’s charged with felony breaking and entering to a motor vehicle, misdemeanor counts of attempted breaking & entering to a building and injury to personal property. He’s also charged with parole violation.

He’s on parole as a result of a conviction in Iredell County in April, 2000. He was convicted of felony assault with a deadly weapon with intent to kill inflicting serious injury. The parole was scheduled to end on December 5, 2023. Following Wednesday’s arrest, Benfield-Cooper was placed in the Alexander County Detention Center under a secured bond of $15,000. He’s scheduled to appear in court next Monday (July 31).
