32-year-old Christopher Michael Clark of Taylorsville was arrested Thursday (June 22) by Alexander County Sheriff’s Officers. He’s charged with felony indecent liberties with a child and statutory sexual offense.

Alexander County Sheriff’s Deputies responded to a residence in the Vashti Community shortly after 11 p.m. Thursday. The Alexander County 911 Communcations Center received a call regarding a possible sexual assault at that home. While enroute, Officers learned that the suspect was armed with a gun and threatening to harm himself.

When Deputies arrived at the scene, a brief stand-off ensued with the suspect. After approximately six minutes, the suspect surrendered the firearm to officers, and was taken into custody.

Clark was incarcerated in the Alexander County Detention Center early Friday morning (June 23) under a secured bond of $825,000. He remained in jail under that bond amount as of earlier today (June 26). A District Court appearance was scheduled today (June 26).
