Alexander County Man Charged With Felony Offenses Following Traffic Stop
28-year-old Darnell Stanley Spears of Taylorsville was arrested Wednesday (May 3) by Alexander County Sheriff’s Officers. He’s charged with two felony counts apiece of possession with intent to manufacture, sell, and deliver schedule IV controlled substance and maintaining a vehicle, dwelling, or place to keep controlled substance. Spears is also charged with misdemeanor counts of possession of marijuana one-half-ounce to one-and-one-half ounces and child abuse.
Spears was arrested during a traffic stop conducted Wednesday by the Sheriff’s Office. It’s the result of a two-month investigation with the assistance of the Taylorsville Police Department, North Carolina State Bureau of Investigation, and United States Homeland Security.
According to the North Carolina Department Of Adult Correction Offender Public Information website, Spears has one conviction listed. He was convicted in Alexander County of misdemeanor drug charges in September of 2020 and received probation and a suspended sentence.
Following the arrest Wednesday, Spears was placed in the Alexander County Detention Center under $50,000 secured bond. As of earlier today (May 5) he was no longer listed as an inmate in Alexander County. A District Court date is scheduled for Monday (May 8).
