We have more details on a Caldwell County man who was arrested recently in Catawba County. The suspect faces charges in multiple counties.

40-year-old Bradley Thomas Sain of Dogwood Street in Hudson was arrested by Hickory Police Officers Sunday evening (April 30) at a hotel on Fairgrove Church Road in Hickory. He’s charged in Catawba County with flee to elude arrest with a motor vehicle, larceny of a motor vehicle, breaking & entering to a motor vehicle, possession of a stolen motor vehicle (two counts), a felony probation violation, and injury to real property. WHKY reported on Sain’s arrest earlier this week.

In addition to the charges in Catawba County, there are reportedly warrants against Sain in Caldwell, Gaston and Alexander Counties. In Alexander County, Sain was arrested on January 2, 2022 after Taylorsville Police say he led them on a chase in a stolen pickup. Alexander County Emergency Communications received a call regarding a vehicle being stolen on Summit Road west of Taylorsville.

The pickup was spotted by Taylorsville Police near the intersection of Alspaugh Dam Road and Church Road. The officer activated blue lights and siren but the driver refused to stop. Other Taylorsville Officers and Deputies with the Alexander County Sheriff’s Office responded to the chase which traveled North Carolina Highway 16 South.

Taylorsville Police Chief Douglas Bowman says the driver sped across Oxford Dam Bridge into Catawba County and turned into River Bend Park crashing through the locked gate. The operator drove through the parking lot onto walking trails and an abandoned logging road eventually crashing the truck into a tree. Sain refused exit the stolen pickup. He was forcibly removed by a Taylorsville Police Officer and taken into custody. The suspect told officers he had swallowed heroin during the chase.

Sain remained in the Catawba County Detention Facility as of earlier today (May 5) under $169,000 bond. His next District Court date in Catawba County is scheduled for May 17, he has a District Court appearance set in Alexander County on May 22, a Gaston County District Court date is August 1, and a Superior Court appearance is scheduled in Caldwell County for August 1.
