Additional Suspect Arrested In Connection To Murder Of Newton Man

A third person has been charged in connection to an Alexander County murder. The victim in the case is 33-year-old Pang Vueyee of Newton. He died at an area hospital Monday morning (March 25) after suffering a gunshot wound to the chest.

The most recent individual arrested is 35-year-old Brandon Allan Blevins of Taylorsville. He’s charged with felony obstructing justice. 46-year-old Jason Henry Fidler of Hiddenite, was charged with murder Monday morning. 18-year-old Karla Breanna Freeland of Statesville was taken into custody and charged with murder on Tuesday (March 26).

Freeland was also charged with felony possession of narcotics on jail premises, Alexander County Sheriff Chad Pennell said on Tuesday that Freeland and Vueyee were involved in a relationship. The Sheriff also said the suspected murder weapon has been found.

The Alexander County Sheriff’s Office says the shooting took place around 1:30 a.m. Monday at an address on Old Mountain Village Drive in Hiddenite. Vueyee had been staying at the home the days prior to his death.

Fidler and Freeland were being held in the Alexander County Detention Center without bond. Blevins was placed in jail under a secured bond of $15,000.

All three suspects have initial court appearances scheduled for next Monday, April 1. The Taylorsville Police Department, Iredell County Sheriff’s Office, North Carolina State Bureau of Investigation, Statesville Police Department and Homeland Security assisted in the investigation.
