Additional Information Released Regarding Arrest Of Hickory Man In Burke County Sexual Exploitation Case

More details have been released in connection to the arrest of a Hickory man who is charged with multiple sexual exploitation counts in Burke County. As WHKY previously reported, 42-year-old James Joseph Haskins Of Airport Rhodhiss Road in Hickory was arrested last Wednesday (October 25) by Burke County Sheriff’s Officers. He was charged with ten felony counts of second-degree sexual exploitation of a minor. A felony drug charge has since been filed against Haskins.

According to information released last Friday (October 27), on October 5, 2023, investigators with the Burke County Sheriff’s Office received information from the National Center for Missing & Exploited Children and Internet Crimes Against Children. After further investigation into this report, a search warrant was executed on the residence of James Joseph Haskins on Airport Rhodhiss Road.

Following that investigation and search, Haskins was charged with the ten sexual exploitation counts. Haskins was arrested at 1 p.m. Wednesday at his residence and was brought to the Burke County Jail. He was initially jailed under a 48-hour hold or until the first judge became available. On Thursday (October 26), a charge of felony possession of schedule II controlled substance was added.

As of earlier today (October 30), Haskins was being held at the Burke County Jail under $310,000 secured bond. His next District Court date on the sexual exploitation charges is scheduled for November 16. He’s scheduled to appear in District Court November 17 on the drug charge.
