A Pair of Conference Player of the Year Awards Highlight L-R Men’s Soccer All-Conference Recognition

The South Atlantic Conference (SAC) announced this morning the 2021 Men’s Soccer Spring All-Conference honorees with six Bears earning recognition. Victor Cascon earned the SAC Offensive Player of the Year, while Dani Fernandez received Defensive Player of the Year honors.

Junior Carles Montoliu Lobo joined Cascon and Fernandez in earning first-team recognition. Three sophomores rounded out recognitions for the Bears as defender Oliver Gardner and goalkeeper Juan Basabe claimed second-team honors and defender Diego Delgado earned honorable mention.

Cascon, a native of Salamanca, Spain earned his fourth SAC All-Conference team nod and his first Player of the Year honor. Cascon has six goals and added three assists so far on the season. Cascon is currently tied for 4th all-time in program history in goals (27) and 6th in points (64).

Montoliu Lobo, a midfielder from Valencia, Spain, was a key part for the Bears in which they lead the SAC conference with a 2.83 goals scored per game this spring.

Defenders Fernandez, Gardner and Delgado were key members of the defensive that allowed just 0.64 goals per game this season while Basabe, a native of Durango, Spain, recorded 23 saves in goal and only allowed four goals scored.
