CONOVER, N.C. (WACB) – A Lincoln County man has been arrested by Conover Police after he allegedly fled from Officers on foot while armed with an assault rifle. 41-year-old Anthony Gene Robinson of Lincolnton is charged with felony counts of possession a firearm by a felon, possession of cocaine, possession with intent to distribute cocaine, maintain a vehicle/dwelling/place for controlled substance, going armed to the terror of the public resisting arrest, possession of drug paraphernalia and highway violations.

A vehicle operated by Robinson was stopped by Conover Police Friday evening (August 21) for failure to maintain lane control. Reports indicate the suspect, while allegedly armed with an AR-15 rifle, fled the traffic-stop on foot. He ran through an apartment complex while children were present outside. Robinson was captured after entering a wooded area nearby.

Robinson is being held without bond in the Catawba County Detention Facility. A Monday (August 24) District Court date was scheduled.
