Ceremonies commemorating 9/11 are scheduled Monday (September 11). An event will take place in Conover starting at 8:30 a.m. at the Norman B. Coley Amphitheater on Fifth Avenue SE. If it rains, the event will be held in Conover Station which is across from the amphitheater. Hickory Elks Lodge 1654 and the Hickory community will remember the events of 9/11 at a Patriot Day Remembrance Ceremony on Monday at 6:30 p.m. at The Sails on the Square in Downtown Hickory. The Patriot Day Remembrance Ceremony is open to the public. Attendees are welcome to bring a lawn chair.
