81-year-old Carl Lee Mason of Chesterfield, Virginia was arrested by Hickory Police early this morning on a felony warrant as a fugitive awaiting extradition to another state. He was taken into custody without incident just before 3 a.m. today (September 19) in the vicinity of Catawba Valley Memorial Hospital. Mason was jailed in the Catawba County Detention Facility under a $25,000 secured bond. A first appearance in District Court was set for tomorrow in Newton. No additional information is available at this time.
