63 new cases of COVID-19 were reported today (December 2) in Catawba County, increasing the overall total to 7,278, with 100 deaths. Hospitalizations rose by one to a pandemic-high of 62. According to Catawba County Public Health, there have been a total of 47,542 coronavirus tests completed, a 15.3% positive rate. The death rate among those who test positive is 1.3%.
The North Carolina Department of Health and Human Services reports 4,199 new COVID-19 cases today. It’s the fifth time since November 19 that at least 4,000 new cases have been reported by the agency.
