Woman Charged With Indecent Liberties Following Investigation

40-year-old Hillary Jean Griffin of Whistling Pines Drive in Statesville was arrested by Iredell County Sheriff’s Officers. She’s charged with felony indecent liberties with a minor.

According to information released Thursday (September 24) by the Iredell County Sheriff’s Office, on August 7, 2020, deputies with the Iredell County Sheriff’s Office responded to a call about a possible sexual assault on a minor. The alleged offense was reportedly committed by an acquaintance.

While the deputies were on scene gathering details and statements, Hillary Jean Griffin was arrested and charged with resist, obstruct and delay. Griffin was escorted to the Iredell County Detention Center and taken before a Magistrate where she was issued a $1000 secured bond.

The case was investigated by Iredell County Sheriff’s Office Special Victims Unit, Detective Sergeant Katie Harwell. Sergeant Harwell conducted several interviews and gathered evidence through the course of the investigation. Based on all the evidence gathered in the investigation, Sergeant Harwell obtained the indecent liberties warrant against Griffin.

The suspect was arrested last Saturday, September 19. She was taken to the Iredell County Detention Center where bond was set at $20,000 secured. Griffin is no longer listed as an inmate in Iredell County. District Court dates are scheduled for October 12 and October 20.
