More Details Released In Connection To Arrest Of Wanted Burke County Woman

More information has been released in connection to the arrest of a wanted woman in Burke County. As WHKY previously reported, 34-year-old Katia Celaina Christian of Smith Road in Morganton was arrested last Tuesday, August 17, by Burke County Sheriff’s Officers. Christian was charged with felony counts of possession of methamphetamine and possession of a stolen motor vehicle. In addition, she’s charged with misdemeanor counts of possession of drug paraphernalia, fail to heed light or siren, and driving while license revoked.

On August 5, 2021, Burke County Sheriff’s Office deputies were dispatched to an alarm call on Mount Home Church Road, Morganton. At the intersection of Mount Home Church Road and Old NC 18, deputies spotted a vehicle being driven by Katia Celaina Christian, who they knew was wanted on a felony vehicle theft warrant.

When Deputies attempted to make a vehicle stop, Christian reportedly accelerated towards Enola Road at a high rate of speed. Deputies gave pursuit but cancelled the chase when Christian reportedly ran a red light in heavy traffic. A warrant for arrest was issued on Christian following this incident.

Narcotics investigators found Christian at a residence on Orchid Lane in Valdese on August 17. They saw the suspect in the home and saw a stolen Toyota Camry from Gastonia outside the residence. Investigators entered the home and found Christian hiding in a closet. Meth and drug paraphernalia were reportedly seized during her arrest and the Camry was towed and secured for the victim.

Christian was transported to the Magistrate’s Office and charged with the previously mentioned offenses. In addition, outstanding warrants including felony probation violations, failure to appear, and out-of-county felony indictments for possession of meth and heroin were also served. She was placed in jail in Morganton under a $155,000 secured bond. She remained in jail under that bond amount as of earlier today (August 25).

Christian has several upcoming court dates in Burke County, with the next appearance scheduled for District Court September 9. District and Superior Court appearances are scheduled in Catawba County Thursday (August 26).
