The City of Newton experienced three (3) wastewater spills on Wednesday. A 7,100-gallon sanitary sewer overflow occurred at 300 North Ashe Avenue, with 7,100 gallons reaching a tributary to Hildebran Creek. A 66,750-gallon sanitary sewer overflow occurred at 1432 NC Hwy. 10 West, with 33,375 gallons reaching Hildebran Creek. A 30,000-gallon sanitary sewer overflow occurred at 301 Stadium Avenue with 4,500 gallons reaching Town Creek.

The Division of Water Quality was notified of the events on November 11 and is reviewing the matter
