Hickory Police Sponsor Polar Plunge for Special Olympics2/8/2010 8:01:32 AM
The Hickory Police Department is hosting the Fourth Annual North Carolina Law Enforcement Polar Plunge, coming up on Saturday, February 13 at the Whittenburg Wildlife Access on Lake Hickory. The event is a benefit for Special Olympics of North Carolina.
For a minimum donation of $50 per person, the public is invited to join with law enforcement personnel from a variety of agencies throughout the area. Individuals and teams are asked to get friends, enemies, in-laws, outlaws, co-workers and others to sign up as sponsors, and then jump into the frigid waters of Lake Hickory in support of a good cause!
Music, doughnuts, coffee and hot chocolate will be available. Participants are asked to bring a towel and dry clothes. No wet suits allowed. Shoes must be worn. Rescue personnel will be on site and in the water during the plunge.
Registration and activities start at 11 a.m. The plunge begins at 1 p.m.
