31-year-old N.C. Forest Service Officer Jimmy Halliburton was killed yesterday (August 13) while working on a construction project in a local state forest.
According to published reports, Officer Halliburton was clearing a road with a bulldozer in the Tuttle Educational State Forest, which is in Caldwell County’s Gamewell area. A fallen tree reportedly hit the victim in the torso area. He was pronounced dead at the scene.
Officer Halliburton, who lived in Morganton, had worked for the Forest Service for ten years.
