Catawba Man Convicted on Felony Firearms Charge

39-year-old Jonathan Andreas Lineberger of Catawba was convicted today (July 29) in Catawba Co. Criminal Superior Court for felony possession of a firearm by a convicted felon and misdemeanor carrying a concealed weapon. Lineberger was sentenced to no less than 21 months and no more than 35 months in the North Carolina Division of Adult Correction.

The crime occurred in May 2013 in Hickory. Officers responded to a disturbance in the parking lot at a local restaurant and found Lineberger with a .380 caliber handgun in his pants pocket. Lineberger had previously been convicted in Catawba County in July of 1995 for felony voluntary manslaughter.

Scott Blackwood from the Hickory Police Department handled the investigation and Assistant District Attorney Sean McGinnis prosecuted the case. The Honorable Jeffrey P. Hunt presided over the conviction.

Lineberger will be transported to the Division of Adult Correction for processing.
