35-year-old Garcia Dontae Finger of North Main Avenue in Newton was arrested by Hickory Police at about 4 a.m. yesterday (July 27) on one felony count of possession of cocaine and misdemeanor counts of possession of drug paraphernalia and resisting, delaying or obstructing a public officer.
He was arrested after Police received an anonymous call regarding the sale of drugs at the intersection of 9th Avenue Place S.W. and 2nd Street Place S.W. Officers on foot saw one man run away from the scene. They approached another man, Garcia Finger, and asked for permission to search. Finger then ran with Police in pursuit.
As Officers prepared to employ a Taser, they saw Finger throw an object, which was recovered and determined to be a baggie containing 0.2 grams of crack cocaine. Finger was apprehended without the use of the Taser. A search of his person turned up a crack pipe.
Finger was jailed in the Catawba Co. Detention Facility under a $5,000 secured bond. He was scheduled to make a first appearance in District Court today in Newton.
