Statesville Police are investigating a break-in at the Belk store on East Broad Street last week. On Wednesday (June 25), Statesville Police were notified of the incident that took place earlier that morning.

When employees came into work Wednesday morning, they discovered that someone had broken into the business through the roof and ceiling. The suspect caused thousands of dollars in damages to the ceiling and panels.

Loss Prevention Officers at Belk reviewed video from earlier in the morning and learned that a male subject accessed the roof and made entry into the business through the roof. Once inside, the suspect spent a significant amount of time moving about in the store. The suspect then damaged the ceiling panels trying to exit the store. Statesville Police say, at this point in the investigation, it’s not clear what was taken from the store.

Anyone with information concerning the break-in should contact Statesville Police at 704-878-3406 or Iredell Crime Stoppers at 704-662-1340. Callers can remain anonymous and a cash reward is possible.
