25-year-old Daniel Joseph Pritchard of 17th Street S.E. in Hickory was arrested by Hickory Police at about 1:45 a.m. Saturday on felony warrants for breaking & entering and larceny. He was also charged with misdemeanor possession of a schedule IV controlled substance. In addition, Pritchard was charged with a probation violation in connection to charges of uttering a forged instrument and obtaining a controlled substance by fraud.
He was arrested after Police went to an apartment on Main Avenue Drive N.W. in Hickory in search of another suspect. Eight people were present at the apartment. The leaseholder gave Officers consent to search the apartment as Officers checked I.D. on each of the persons present. In the process, they found the outstanding warrants for Pritchard’s arrest. A plastic bottle containing Xanax was found on his person, resulting in the misdemeanor drug charge.
Police did not find the suspect they were searching for. Pritchard was the only person charged.
He was placed in the Catawba Co. Detention Facility with bond set at $8,000, secured. A first appearance in District Court was set for today (June 23) in Newton.
