A ten-year-old Lincoln County boy is in stable condition following an accidental hanging incident at his home Sunday morning (June 15).
Deputies were dispatched to a residence on the 2800 block of Long Shoals Road in Lincolnton around 9:30 a.m. The boy had been outside his residence playing basketball when the juvenile’s grandmother saw him hanging from a basketball goal and called his father. The goal was only 61 inches off the ground
The boy’s father ran outside and cut the boy down from the netting and began CPR. The victim was airlifted from the scene to CMC-Lincoln then transferred to Carolinas Medical Center in Charlotte.
According to a press release from the Lincoln Co. Sheriff’s Office, the boy was conscious and alert this morning (June 16).
In addition to the Sheriff’s Office, Firefighters from the Long Shoals Fire Department and Lincoln County E.M.S. responded to the scene.
