During the early morning hours on Sunday, June 1, Hickory Police report that several vehicles were broken into at area hotels and other locations in the City of Hickory.
One of the victims was able to use an online service to track aome of the stolen property to an address in Wilkes County on Yellow Banks Road. Hickory Police contacted the Wilkes Co. Sheriff’s Office to request that they contact someone at the residence.
A Deputy found a back door open where evidence had been thrown out of the house. The items were confirmed as having been stolen from a vehicle in Hickory. During the subsequent investigation at the residence, Wilkes County Deputies uncovered a methamphetamine lab. The occupants were arrested by authorities in Wilkes County.
Hickory Police then obtained and executed a search warrant at the residence, leading to the discovery of more stolen property. Police found evidence indicating that additional stolen items were located at another location in Wilkes County. A search was conducted at that location and more stolen property from other vehicle break-ins in Hickory was found.
Evidence of other crimes throughout multiple jurisdictions was uncovered during the investigation. Charges related to the vehicle break-ins have been issued for two suspects. Additional charges are pending.
