28-year-old Jamie Lee Gray, 54-year-old Rhonda Raab Carswell, 20-year-old Roy Lynn Raab Carswell and 20-year-old Velvet Rose McGalliard have all been arrested by Burke Co. Sheriff’s Officers on drug charges. Gray was charged with felony possession of marijuana and the other three suspects were each charged with misdemeanor possession of marijuana. Gray also faces charges for possession with intent to sell & deliver methamphetamine, possession with intent to sell & deliver marijuana, possession with intent to sell and deliver a schedule II controlled substance, possession of a firearm by a convicted felon and trafficking in opiates. In addition, Rhonda Carswell was charged with felony maintaining a dwelling for a controlled substance. Roy Carswell and Velvet Rose McGalliard were both charged with possession of drug paraphernalia.
On Friday (May 30), the Burke Co. Narcotics Task Force executed a search warrant at a residence on Brentwood Road in Morganton after a lengthy investigation involving the use, sale and distribution of narcotics at the residence.
Upon arrival, a Burke County SWAT unit and a Morganton Department of Public Safety Special Emergency Response Team (SERT) entered the residence where they located five individuals and detained them. A search of the residence turned up methamphetamine, marijuana, oxymorphone, oxycodone, drug paraphernalia and numerous firearms.
Four suspects were placed in the Burke-Catawba District Confinement Facility. Bond for Gray was set at $65,000, secured. Rhonda Carswell was given a $6,000 secured bond. Bond for Roy Carswell wasn’t specified and McGalliard’s bond was set at $1,500, secured. Gray and Rhonda Carswell will next appear in District Court on June 23 while Roy Carswell and McGalliard each have court dates on June 30.
