The City of Morganton will shut off water service temporarily next week to customers living in the Amherst Road area in Morganton and Drexel. Contractors will move a water line located at the Amherst Road Bridge, just east of the Morganton city limits.
The work is currently scheduled for Tuesday, April 29, weather permitting. The water service shut off will start at 8 a.m. and continue until contractors relocate the water line. The water line relocation is a result of the NCDOT's plans to replace the Amherst Road Bridge.
Water customers in the City of Morganton and the Town of Drexel will be affected. Residents on Amherst Road from Kirksey Drive in Morganton to Seitz Road in Drexel; customers on North Drexel Road in Drexel from Amherst Road to Butler Hill Road; and customers on Seitz Road in Drexel from North Drexel Road to Bryant Road will experience an interruption in service. Residents who live off of those main roads will also be affected.
For more information, call Morganton’s Water Resources Department at 828-438-5276 or the Town of Drexel Public Works Department at 828-437-7421.
