The third annual Foothills Homeless Veterans Stand Down is scheduled for today (April 25) at the Hickory American Legion Fairgrounds on Highway 70 S.E. in Newton.
The event will run from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. There will be information and services for homeless veterans including medical services, dental care, food, clothing, education, tax assistance, employment counseling, eye care, haircuts, shoes, community resources, outdoor supplies and pastoral counseling.
The program will serve veterans from Alexander, Avery, Burke, Caldwell, Catawba, Cleveland, Gaston, Iredell, Lincoln, McDowell, Watauga and Wilkes Counties.
